Professor Takashi Murakami

Lecturer on Obstetrics and Gynecology, Shiga Medical University

Event Date:
June 1-2, 2024
Event Name:
12th Meeting of the Japanese Society for Robotic Surgery in Gynecology

Otsu City in Shiga Prefecture offers many venues for academic lectures, and for this medical meeting, the Lake Biwa Grand Hotel, which is home to a sacred spring believed to have the power to heal even the most incurable diseases, was chosen.

The hotel has a magnificent convention hall overlooking Lake Biwa, providing ample space for setting up an exhibition area in addition to three lecture halls. Since the entire event, including the reception banquet, took place within the hotel, many participants were pleased and stated that it felt like an international conference held at a resort overseas.

Professor Hiroki Yamanaka

Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, Ryukoku University

Event Date:
May 17-21, 2023
Event Name:
The eDNA Society International Meeting 2023

Given the research themes handled by the conference, it was essential to hold the event on the shores of Lake Biwa. Additionally, we were able to receive financial support from the city of Otsu and Shiga Prefecture, leading to the decision to host the event in Otsu.

Holding the conference at a venue close to Lake Biwa was particularly appealing to international participants, resulting in a satisfying experience for the participants. I believe this was thanks to the beautifully maintained scenery of Lake Biwa.
