Located on the shore of Lake Biwa, in an area where many convention and lodging facilities are located, Biwako Hall has been presenting performing arts to the world at the highest level of appreciation for over a quarter of a century since its opening in 1998, with its own "Biwako Hall Vocal Ensemble" and through independent productions, mainly of operas. The hall has one of the best four-surface stages in Japan and a large number of opera houses.
The three halls, each with its own unique characteristics, can be used as venues for lectures and ceremonies: the Main Theatre, which boasts one of the best four-sided stages in Japan and excellent acoustics for opera, ballet, and orchestra performances; the Theatre, suitable for plays and traditional performing arts; and the Ensemble Hall, for small chamber music and other small groups.

From the Facility Representative
When you enter the building from the main entrance on the second floor and proceed to the back of the main lobby, or when you step out of the seats in the main or medium Theatres and return to the foyer, the grand view of Lake Biwa spread out before your eyes will move all that see it.
As well, the Biwako Hall Vocal Ensemble can be a great addition to lectures and ceremonies. Please also feel free to consult with us about performing lectures at nearby locations, etc.
