The Shiga Daihatsu Arena, the largest in the prefecture, is a flexible venue for both sporting and non-sporting competitions. This example is a tournament which features demonstrations and company exhibitions related to robotics, with participation by universities from all over Japan.

Day 1

Registration begins in the morning and an opening ceremony is held. Demonstrations are then held in the main arena and sub-arena, as well as corporate exhibitions in one corner of the main arena.

Registration

The main entrance has a relaxed atmosphere and was constructed using an abundant amount of wood from Shiga Prefecture. Shigaraki ware is used for the signage throughout the facility, giving visitors a full sense of the charm of Shiga, and the adjacent lounge is open for eating and drinking.

Opening Ceremony, Demonstrations, and Corporate Exhibitions

The opening ceremony and corporate exhibitions will be held in the main arena, while demonstrations will be held in both the main arena and sub-arenas. The main arena is approximately 2,900㎡ and seats approximately 5,000 spectators, while the sub-arena is approximately 1,200㎡ and seats approximately 200 spectators, making it possible to accommodate large-scale exhibitions and events.

Exchange Event

In the evening, a social exchange event is held in the large conference room. The large conference room is adjacent to the main arena, and its windows provide a view of the arena’s interior. The windows also face the lobby area, and the room’s movable walls can be retracted to create a more comfortable and open space which can help increase interaction among event participants.

Day 2

Demonstrations and corporate exhibits will continue from the previous day, while workshops and excursions will also be held.

Workshops

The large conference room, which was used for a reception the day before, will be used. The walls can also be used as a screen for presentations using a projector.

Shiga Museum of Art

The museum is located in Biwako Cultural Park which is adjacent to the Shiga Daihatsu Arena, and was recently renovated in 2021 based on the concept of being “a living room in the park.” The surrounding Japanese garden and scenic biotope make it an ideal place for visitors to refresh themselves during breaks from the tournament.

Day 3

After the demonstrations in the morning, an awards ceremony and closing ceremony will be held.

Awards Ceremony and Closing Ceremony

The awards ceremony and closing ceremony will be held in the main arena. Seating on the first floor will be movable, and can be freely rearranged to accommodate the size of the event’s crowd.

Convention Facilities

The Shiga Daihatsu Arena facility is designed to be functional for a variety of uses, with a focus on its main arena that can accommodate 5,000 people.

In addition to being optimized for sports competitions such as basketball and volleyball, the facility can also host school festivals, athletic meets, and community events. Sound and lighting equipment, as well as movable seating is also provided, allowing for flexibility according to the event. For spectators, there is a food and beverage area and barrier-free bleacher seating designed with wheelchair users in mind. Furthermore, amenity facilities such as a children's room and a nursing room are available.

This facility is well known by many as a base for local sports promotion and cultural activities.
